Strength & Conditioning with Ryan Morrison, C.S.C.S.

At Play Ball USA, we believe proper strength and conditioning is essential to elite performance in all aspects of sports. In order to get your body in the right positions at the plate, on the field, on the court or in the rink, you must train your body the right way! To excel at the next level, you need to incorporate a specific fitness training program into your sports routine.

 

Play Ball USA offers more than baseball and softball lessons or cage rentals. We now have Sports Specific Training. Our certified strength and conditioning coach, Ryan Morrison, will focus on training movements specific to your sport.

Play Ball USA's Strength and Conditioning staff is available to provide customized, safe, and effective training programs for athletes of any sport. Training will focus on improving an athlete's speed, flexibility, strength and explosive power.

FITNESS EVALUATIONS

At Play Ball USA we know every effective program begins with proper goals, and these goals can only be created once you know what your strengths and weaknesses are.  We offer  sports specific evaluations, functional movement screenings, and body composition testing. All evaluations are meant to be a starting point in your jouney towards your goal.  

SPORT SPECIFIC EVALUATIONS

If you are an athlete looking to improve you performance on the field we must first examine your athletic abilities. Your upper and lower body strength, upper and lower body power, core strength, muscular endurance, agility and flexibility will all be evaluated. Tests are altered based on training history and sports played.

 


FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREENING

 

The functional movement screening is designed to identify mobility and stability issues one may have within their movement patterns. There are 7 different tests which examine the entire body. Most importantly the screening helps detect any imbalances or asymmetries in the body. If you expect to perform at your highest level on the field and avoid injury, your body must be balanced and able to move freely all while having proper stability. This screening will allow you to understand your body in greater detail.

 


COMPLETE ATHLETE SCREENING

 

This option combines the sports specific evaluation and functional movement screening. Not only will your athletic attributes be analyzed but your movement patterns will be examined as well. The complete athlete screening will discover what areas you need to work on and ensure you are balanced.

 


BODY COMPOSITION TESTING

 

 Your body composition is important when it comes to living a healthy life and performing your best in athletics. It is not just enough to know how much you weigh, it is important to know what percentage of your weight is fat free mass. This a great way to set goals and see how much you progress.

The sports specific training programs are designed to enhance performance on the field. Training will focus on improving speed, agility, reaction, strength,  explosive power, balance and flexibility. Play Ball USA uses scientifically proven methods in performance enhancement. Sport specific training is not just training muscles we must train the body as a whole and train proper movement patterns. This help tranlate the improve power from the weight room into the game.

Every sport requires different movement patterns and different positions in which explosive power is required. Often times this differs not only from sport to sport but also positiong to position. Every athlete that trains at Play Ball USA has a specific program designed to fit the demands of their sport, position and personal needs.

PERSONAL TRAINING SESSIONS  

Play Ball USA is now offering personal training sessions to anyone that wants to get healthy and stay in shape. Our strength and conditioning staff will format each hald hour training session specifically to your needs and abilities.
What is the difference between personal training and sports specific training?
The main difference between personal training and sports specific training is the goal. In personal training the end goal is to loose weight, gain muscle, lower cholesterol among many other reasons. People begin personal training to look and feel better as well as begin a healthier life style. The goal of sports specific training is to improve performance in a certain sports. This is done not by training muscles but by training proper movement patterns and energy systems.

TEAM TRAINING PACKAGES

Players have the chance to train together as a team while working to improve their performance on the field. Not only will the athletes benefit physically from the training but chemistry and trust will be built among them. Play Ball USA will create a program that is specific to the sport of the team. This training allows your team to continue to work together whether it is during the season or in the off-season.
Team training will focus on improving speed, agility, strength, power, balance and flexibility. Most importantly,  younger athletes will improve body control and awareness. Both are essential when it comes to making adjustments to their techniques.
